LISTSERV

EMPOWER Colorado has a listserv (internet discussion groups). We communicate with each other daily on a wide variety of topics related to mental health, schools, IEP/504, resources, research, medications, alternative methods, therapy and tons of support.

A listserv is a great way to give and receive information, resources and support.  It is accessible anywhere you can access a computer and have an email.

There are many ways in which to access the listserv, there are individual emails for those who are on-line more regularly and would like to have emails as they arrive daily, the daily digest is a way to receive one email a day with all the days emails combined or through the the web.

For more information on our listserv http://groups.yahoo.com/group/EMPOWER_COLORADO or by contacting Carol Villa or Christiana Humphreys at info@empowercolorado.com.

Netiquette (for our listserv)

NETIQUETTE defined is simply ‘on-line etiquette’.  For the purposes of the EMPOWER Colorado listserv the Netiquette is only to inform people of a few things we ask of you when participating.  Remember if you have any questions or concerns please email Carol Villa or Christiana Humphreys at info@empowercolorado.com

SUBJECT LINES
Please include a subject line. Some people don't have time to read all emails and want  to read based on subject.

TRIMMING MESSAGES

Please remember to trim out all the text from any mail to which you are replying that isn’t absolutely necessary.

There are many reasons for this, some of the most common are:

 1. People who receive the daily digest (all the messages for one day, in one post, one after the other) have a difficult time scrolling through all the messages when people just reply (especially when there are long emails).

 2. Many people have size limits on their emails so their inbox fills quicker and then become 'bouncing' members, and therefore removed from the membership list by Yahoo.

 3. It makes life easier for those who are sight impaired (who rely on hearing their emails), or have carpel tunnel problems (and scrolling makes this worse).

 4. It also helps to stop the message archives from filling up too fast.

This may be confusing to some so if you need  help please contact us and we will help.

One reminder that I will add here is that there are over 250 members on this listserv (not that many post regularly) so please remember to  practice some safety and discretion when posting.  While we strive to provide a safe and confidential environment we cannot control the internet or emails.

If you are new to the internet or email you might want to take a look at
www.getnetiquette.com as it has tons of great tips.

 Thank you!
