Want a support group in your area?
To
all consumers and families of youth or adult consumers
on the West Slope: Please let us know if you would like
a support group in your area. Because we believe in the
value of these groups, we will work with you to create a
group in your area.
Support groups provide education,
networking and a safe place to be heard and understood.
As either consumers or families, the ability to connect
with others in your situation helps to relieve some of
the isolation we feel. Please contact Janice Curtis, at
jcurtis@frontier.net,
or 1-866-213-4631 for more information.

Family Peer Specialists are available in all
offices but Steamboat, but I am still available
by email or phone for that county. A Family
Peer Specialist (FPS) has received extensive
training to provide individual support to
families between meetings. A FPS can provide
support with special education, problem solving
or be that peer that listens and understands.
For Medicaid clients in the 10 counties of Co.
West MH, there is a toll free help line number,
(1-866-470-5928) with advocates available upon
request, to provide help with any problem
experienced with the mental health system.
Anti-Stigma Presentations available
FREE Presentations are available to your groups, it
includes a video and brief presentation about mental
illness being a brain disorder, but that the stigma is
still prevalent today. This has been given to judges,
probation, county attorneys, board of directors, each
semester to college students and is free.
